Hillside Explorer Tour Day 1
Explore Waterfalls (seasonal) & Jungle, Visit a Village, Enjoy the Hillside Resort Hideaway …
This family friendly soft adventure tour starts in Luang Prabangwere you will meet your guide in the morning at your hotel or a selected pick up point.
We take a short TukTuk ride to the That Thong waterfall * where we start our soft adventure trek to the hidden valley retreat. Your guide will lead you through the small forest trails where you can take your time to explore this rarely visited protected area and enjoy the sights and sounds of nature surrounding you.
After a serene uphill walk through cascading waterfalls and jungle trails you will come to a Khamu village where you can take the chance tolearn more about the rural life in this small Lao community.
After the village visit, we take another short hike through a plateau, rice paddies and agricultural highland farming areas. Around lunch time we will arrive at the small hidden Hillside Resort for a Lao style lunch beside the pool or in the tropical garden. Enjoy your time to rest in your beautiful garden bungalow room at Hillside or take another short walk to the view point on the hill, where on a clear day you can see all the way to the Mekong and Luang Prabang. Dinner is served at the small restaurant or in the lush gardens.
The trek is easy to medium uphill through beautiful jungle. You will arrive at the Hillside Resort early afternoon so that you can relax and enjoy the resort grounds in the mountains for most of the first day of this tour.
*Please be advised that That Thong Waterfall is dry during the dry season from about February to August. Kuang Si Waterfall remains full of water year-round so bring your swimming gear!
Hillside Explorer Tour Day 2
Poolside relaxing, Unique Kuang Si Waterfall hiking tour, Hmong community interaction
You can start your next day with an early morning workout (yoga classes are available seasonally) or have a nice relaxed morning before you have breakfast at the resort.
You will take a short drive through the green valley and get dropped off at a Hmong ethnic minority village. From here we start out for a 3 hour walk to the famous Kuang Si Waterfalls.
Hiking along you will pass orchards of rubber trees, rice fields, and vegetable gardens before reaching the forested mountains with quite wild jungle scenery and some steeper climbs.
In the afternoon you will arrive at the crystal clear Kuang Si Waterfall. An exciting forest trail leads you to the end of your trek and your reward – the welcoming and refreshing turquoise pools of Kuang Si Waterfall where we will have plenty of time to relax and swim.
While in the Kuang Si Waterfall park, you should visit the Kuang Si Bear Rescue Sanctuary. You can find great information about Asian sun and moon bears and the Free the Bears protection program. You are welcome to support the project with a donation or by buying a real “Free The Bears” T-Shirt.
When you’re finished enjoying Kuang Si Waterfalls we will provide a transfer back to Luang Prabang in the late afternoon.

What to bring for the hillside experience:
Please bring your minimum amount of luggage as you have to carry it in your day-pack. Also bring your swim suit and towel for the pool and the waterfalls. Good shoes and trekking sandals are best to enjoy the walks. Also take sun & rain protection.
